The operators of this new school in regional NSW sought a safe, affordable heating solution in a climate zone where temperatures regularly dip below zero. Gas heating and reverse cycle air conditioning were both considered, however the high cost of gas, poor performance of air con in cold climates, maintenance and safety concerns led them to Heatpac’s “Heatwave Solar” heating system as the ideal heating solution. Many NSW schools still operate with old gas and electric heating systems that require ongoing maintenance and offer no energy saving features. The Heatwave Solar heaters at this school currently operate on low cost off peak power now and will be converted to solar power in the near future.
